Kaballah - Is it a religion, a cult, a philosophy or what?
by freetosee ina friend of mine says kabbalah is not religious, but rather a scientific approach to matters.
i me it seems to have strong religious characteristics and the people i have meat seem very cultic.
i must admit that i have not looked deeply into kabbalistic teachings.. what is your assessment?.

Why So Many Young People Are Leaving The Watchtower
by Jeremy C ini have been giving a lot of thought to the young people who are leaving the watchtower organization in recent years.
last night, i was reading the thread posted by jwfacts a while back in which he provided some statistics and graphs showing the rapidly declining growth in the watchtower.
one factor that was discussed at length was the high number of young people who do not stay in the organization.

I was a young person in the 1980's. At that time the generation that saw 1914 were aged between 80 and 100, this fact really focussed the mind as all JWs believed that members of this generation would witness armageddon. We discussed this at every meeting and was our main argument in field service. I was convinced that I would not finish my schooling, own a car, get married etc.
Now that the 1914 generation have passed away what 'proof' do they have that armageddon is just around the corner?
Fear kept many of my generation in line, what is there to threaten todays young JWs with?

assemblies and my lovely wife
by stillin ini finally put a couple of pieces together that have boggled me for years.. i would take my family to the conventions and assemblies and for some reason, my wife would always be upset or start an argument in the car on the way home, or in the week that follows.
i realize now that her frustration is that i am not the guy in the demonstrations.
you know, the guy who has the bestfriend/elder who always says the perfect thing and the guy is so humble and does this little talks-to-himself thing where he reveals his deep spirituality and applies the ever-so-wise words of his friend and after that life is just great again!.

Attention Lurkers- the Paradise Resort Bus
by stuckinamovement inimagine boarding a bus with your family for a long anticipated vacation.
the destination is a place that is promised to be beautiful warm and sunny.
as you are boarding the bus you are given a ticket stub with several paragraph's of fine print.

This is brilliant!
JWs love clever illustrations, they use them all the time to convince themselves they have the truth.
This would make a great talk 4 LOL.

Manchester - Great nightlife
Bath - Visit the famous Roman baths
Windermere - The fabulous Lake District
Avebury - A mystical stone circle surrounds this village
Hadrians Wall - Lots of Roman stuff, Houseteads Fort, Vindolanda, Chesters Fort
Whitby & Robin Hoods Bay
Ben Nevis

Did you REALLY like the music played at meetings? Did people in your cong. seem to like them?
by Chemical Emotions ini couldn't stand it.
never heard any of it played live, which i imagine would be much better, but still... i find it annoying.
for people who like that type of music, i guess it was good.

Even at my most zealous I thought that the music and songs were terrible.
I can only think of one crazy person who bought 'Kingdom Melodies' on cassette tape.
How bad they are is one of the many JW unmentionables.

Thanks for sorting the clip.
I have been able to copy and paste this clip into a Word document but not into this forum. Wonder if I have to activate a setting.
Peter played in the English first division and was tipped to play in the Mexico world cup in 1970.
His conversion to JW was a big story at the time.
